THE
PREFERRED FORMAT FOR PAPERS
All papers presented to the Chicago Literary Club are preserved in the Special
Collections Section of the Newberry Library. For this purpose, presenters are
requested to observe the following format:
1.
White paper,
8-1/2 by 11 inches, with a 1 inch margin on all sides and Arabic page numbers
in the upper right-hand corner or centered at the bottom of the page.
2.
Legible manuscript, or typeset double spaced, in dark ink.
3.
A plain title
page preceding the first page of the text and bearing the title, presenter's
name, date presented and the words "The Chicago Literary Club."
4.
Pages are not to
be stapled together. A cover or binder is not needed.
The Club assumes no
responsibility for copyright protection. If the presenter desires such
protection, the symbol ©, followed by the year of first
publication and the presenter’s name, should be placed on the title page of the
paper.
Two copies of the paper, in the above format, should
be delivered to the Secretary the evening the paper is presented.
If the author wishes to have
the paper published on the Club's website, a copy should be sent via email to
the Webmaster at chicago.literary.club@gmail.com
or given to the Webmaster on diskette or CD. Disks will not be returned. Microsoft
Word is the preferred format, but WordPerfect and Adobe Acrobat are acceptable.
The entire paper must be included in one complete file, including title page, essay,
footnotes, and any bibliographies or appendices. Papers are posted as
submitted; the Club does not edit for grammar, spelling, or format.
