THE
PREFERRED FORMAT FOR PAPERS
All papers read to the Club are preserved in the Special Collections of the
Newberry Library. While they will accept papers as presented, the following
format is preferred:
1.
White paper,
8-1/2" by 11", with a 1" margin on all sides and Arabic page
numbers in the upper right-hand corner. (Please! No legal size).
2.
Legible manuscript, or typeset double spaced, in dark ink, signed at
the end if the author wishes.
3.
A plain title
page preceding the first page of the text and bearing the title, author's name,
date read and the words "The Chicago Literary Club."
4.
Pages are not to
be stapled together. A cover or binder is not needed.
Two copies of the paper are
to be given to the Secretary on the night that it is read.
If the author wishes to have
the paper published on the Club's website, a copy should be sent by email to
the Webmaster (chicago.literary.club@gmail.com) or given to the Webmaster on
diskette or CD. Disks will not be returned unless accompanied by a self
addressed prepaid mailer. Microsoft Word is the preferred format, but
WordPerfect and Adobe Acrobat are acceptable.
The author should choose the one-word Subject that most closely
approximates the subject matter, and furnish an eight to ten word description
for inclusion in the list of Papers

The Club assumes no responsibility for copyright protection. Where the Author
desires to obtain such protection, he should place the word and symbol "Copyright
©" followed by the year of first publication and his name on the title
page.
In general, papers should not exceed one hour in length.
