Vincent W. Erickson, aged 89, died February 27, 2002 in Norwood Park,
Illinois. A graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Campaign, Mr.
Erickson served in Army intelligence during World War II. For 24 years he
worked at the advertising agency Needham, Louis & Brorby,
now DDB Chicago, where he became controller. Mr. Erickson also earned a
degree in accounting from Northwestern University and an MBA from the
University of Chicago. He loved literature, especially writers from the
American South, once wrangling an invitation to
William Faulkner's home in Oxford, Mississippi. He volunteered at the Norwood
Park Historical Society and was a deacon in the Lutheran Church. When he was
inducted into the Chicago Department of Aging Senior Citizens Hall of Fame, Mr.
Erickson was praised for his 'tutoring of special education students and for
reading to the blind. A member of the Club since 1989, he presented four
papers.
