John J. Lingner Ill, aged 51, died November 19, 2002, in Chicago, Illinois. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he graduated from the University of Chicago Law School. He had a master's degree from the University of Montana and had studied at the Free University of Berlin and the London School of Economics. Mr. Lingner was active in the Union League Club of Chicago, where he had been secretary and also served on the board of directors. A trustee of the Union League Boys and Girls Club, he had been the leader of a $6.4 million capital campaign to upgrade three club facilities. A member of the Chicago Literary Club since 1992, he had presented two papers.
