William LeBaron Jenney was an architect, engineer, teacher, and landscape
and urban designer. He is widely credited with the invention of the steel frame building, making
possible the skyscraper. He joined the Club in 1878, presenting three papers:
"The Fossils of History" on April 16, 1883, "Personal Reminiscences of Vicksburg" on
December 14, 1885, and "An Age of Steel" on October 27, 1890. For more information click here.
