Herman Lackner was remembered at the 1999 Midwinter Meeting at the Newberry Library by Francis Lackner as a man passionately interested in people, who made friends quickly, and used his friends to assist each other. During World War II he was on active duty with the U.S. Navy SeaBees on Guadalcanal. He was an architect by profession and an avid connoisseur of all the arts. He joined the Club in 1954, was president of the Club in 1969-70, Recording Secretary for fifteen years, frequent member of committees, and presented twelve papers, one of which, "Day by de Senectute," was published by the Club in 1991.

Herman Lackner is the subject of one of the oral histories of Chicago architects in the collection of the Department of Architecture of The Art Institute of Chicago. Click here for link.
