Lorado Taft (1860-1936) was a noted sculptor. An Illinois native, he studied at the University of Illinois and L'Ecole des Beaux Arts before settling in Chicago as an instructor at The Art Institute. He founded the Department of Sculpture there, taught as well at the University of Chicago, and became recognized for public and allegorical works. He joined the Club in 1889, presenting five papers before resigning in 1900. For more information click here.
